Move-In Clean
A move-in clean primarily focuses on recovering, as much as possible, the dirt left by previous owners. The new owner of a house likes to have their new home as clean as is practical. Cleaning is an energizing process and it is wonderful to move in to a clean and highly energized space.
A move-in clean is a modified spring cleaning project. These are many but not all of the items that we look to make sure are clean:
- Light fixtures and fans
- All ledges (door, baseboards, window sills and window frames)
- Doors and door jams
- Mini-blinds and inside the windows
- Inside all cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom
- All shelving
- Refrigerator
- Stove
- Vents/air return ducts
- Floor and carpet edging
- Gel glossing and a thorough clean of the bathroom(s)
- Dirt tracked in by movers
Move-Out Clean
The idea behind a move-out clean is to honor the house you're leaving behind so that it's as clean as possible for the new owners. Sellers usually don't want to spend the time or the money to clean it for the buyer, but they should.
In the move-out clean, you want to make sure:
- Floors look the best they possibly can
- All cabinets are clean
- The bathroom(s) are thoroughly cleaned
- If needed, the oven/stove area is cleaned
- The refrigerator is cleaned out
- The garage is stripped out
- The dirt tracked in by the movers is recovered
