It starts with a service heart. Techniques and information can be demonstrated and taught to most everyone with a minimal level of motivationMost are capable of intellectually receiving and understanding facts. However, to become a master housekeeper, you need to have a well-developed and genuine service heart.
A service heart is a person who willingly places pleasing their client as the utmost of importance. It is a person who takes great pride and works every day to earn his/her client's respect and approval. It is a person who is a giver of energy, effort and their very best. He/She understands the importance of and how to energize a living space. Energy, enthusiasm, passion and taking responsibility are core to those who have a service hearth.
It cannot be taught, but it can be released.
Orientation Process
The following is an overview of the initial process with Housekeeping Specialists. It starts with the Interview/Informational Meeting and ends with the Orientation Phase.
Interview/Informational Meeting
You learn what is involved in becoming a Professional Housekeeper. You are given handouts/procedures for cleaning a bathroom following the system we use for cleaning. The handouts MUST BE READ, they not optional.
Orientation Phase
First Orientation at Pierre
Before coming to the orientation, you must have read:
- The Rules of Cleaning
- Tools and Supplies
- The Bathroom
If you have not read the above, you wait until the next orientation. At the first orientation, you receive a handout entitled "The Dynamic Laws of Master Housekeeping." There is a discussion about it and you are asked to make a verbal commitment to use it and integrate it. We also reviews the actual tools and supplies and review the system used for cleaning a bathroom.
Second Orientation
You will be shown techniques in using the system, then you will use the techniques to clean. Depending on your level of integration of following the system, you will not graduate from Bathroom Orientation (being observed doing a bathroom and given additional direction) until Lera or a Team Leader determines you are showing proficiency in following the system. You might be assigned to some crews without being observed.
During Bathroom Orientation you will be given reminders, direction and suggestions on how to better integrate using the system. You will be given time and our patience while practicing the system. You are not expected to be perfect. You are expected to be open to learning a new way of cleaning. You will be given a written report of your progress so you can see what you are doing correctly and what you need to change.
Graduation from Bathroom Orientation
Two to three weeks after you've begun working, you will have a Progress Observation to see how well you are using the system. You cannot take the written Bathroom Test until the Progress Observation is finished.
The skills you learn by using the system will transfer into the Kitchen and Detail Dusting orientation. However, when you move into a new area, you must read the handout on the new skill area. Please ask the Team Leader for the Kitchen or Dusting handout. Further instruction will follow as to the specific process with the Kitchen and Detail Dusting Orientation.
